Project: Joie de Vivre bio picture

Welcome to Project: Joie de Vivre!

I'm a wedding photographer who is also fired up and passionate about
helping others find their joie de vivre, "the joy of living."

When studying abroad in France in college, I learned a lot about the world and how life should be enjoyed like a fine glass of wine or a delectable piece of chocolate. How can we enjoy life if we are caught up doing what we must instead of finding what we love?

What makes you happy? What
lights a fire inside? This blog is an exploration of all that. As the title suggests, this is an ongoing project. A work in progress. And I hope you may be inspired to find your Joie de Vivre. The joy of living.

Lavender

I’ve actually never made it to Provence. Like the legit home of lavender. I’ve always wanted to go and the next time that I’m in France, it’s on my list. I’m going to Provence. I’m going to run in the lavender. Well, at least go see it. It’s so interesting how true it is that...

On Being Better than Last Week

Last week, I was watching a presentation online by Australia wedding photographer, Jerry Ghionis. At the close of his talk he said, “You don’t have to be the best, you just have to be better than last week.” And I found this to be so simple and yet so profound. I think that when we...

Inspired by French Macaroons

So, I have a confession to make. I love all things French. And yet, I’ve never had a macaroon in my life. And I’ve found that macaroons are very French. On the Internet, macaroons are often called French. From Wikipedia: A macaron is a confectionery whose name is derived from an Italian word “maccarone” or...

Get Excited and Change Things

Sometimes, I think we all could use a little change. Even one little change can make a huge difference in our lives. HUGE. Sometimes it’s a job. Sometimes it’s a living arrangement or location. Sometimes it’s as simple as taking a different route to work or for doing errands. But there’s something about change and...

Just do it.

Yesterday morning, while at home staring out the window while catching up on email, I told myself, “You need to stop meaning to do things and go ahead and do them.” I had been meaning to send a thank you note. Since January! So yesterday, I finally went out and made a thank you gift...

Inspired by Chanel No. 5 & Audrey Tatou

Today’s French Inspired post comes from a commercial I saw on TV the other day. As soon as it was over, I had to go find it on YouTube because it was just beautiful and made me long for France. Because France and I, we have this special relationship. I couldn’t help but be inspired...

Real Friendships

I relish good friendships. Real ones. The kind that can withstand the tests of time and distance. The type that are solid and steadfast. I appreciate real friendships. I have a few friends who I have known for a long time now and we don’t talk every day. Sometimes we only are able to chat...
